Urban Krav Maga

U.K.M Self-Defence promotes the development of a more street wise attitude to our self-protection and personal safety. Our aim is to provide students with better "Urban Awareness" skills, so that they might avoid or evade conflict. It is fact that the best self-protection is never to be compromised in the first place, but as most of us know this is not always possible and it can be all to easy to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. You have to look no further than our daily newspapers to gauge the levels of violent crime, murder and robbery which can occur, the aftermath of which can leave both the victim and their families devastated for the rest of their lifes.

U.K.M. Uses "Reality Based Self Defence" to train for the worse possible scenarios, we strive to install in studets, the confidence and ability that they will be better able to protect themselves or their family, in the event they are unfortunate enough to find themselves cauhgt up in any confrontational or violent encounter.

Our first consideration is always to try and find a peaceful resolution, BUT!, in the event that it is not possible to de-escalate a situation verbally or leave the scene of the confrontation, U.K.M provides both pre-emptive and reactive solutions to help neutralise or minimise any type of threat you are likely to encounter as quickly and effectively as possible.

Our core syllabus trains speciffically for the "Top Ten" most common type of attacks you are lkely to be faced with, based on Police and Home office  statistics.

U.K.M. also specialises in defence against all types of weapons threats and attacks. With the ever increrasing possibility of finding yourself up against an armed assault, it is essential to unserstand the DYNAMICS and REALITY! of being confronted with an armed assailant, if you are to survive and escape unharmed.

Our Philosophy

As realistic and effective Self Defence system comes at a cost, and by this I don't mean financial, training will at times be very demanding. However we will endeavour to make it as enjoyable, stimulating and as interesting as possible, but you will only see the proper rewards if you are willing to make the sacrafice of blood, sweat and yes sometimes maybe even a few tears.

UKM Self-Defence is a non-profit making organisation, all funds are re-directed into our club to buy equipment and to further our instructor training programmes so that we can provide upto date cutting edge training techniques and information. Making a personal profit is not our prime motivation and this allows us to maintain high standards for the development of our students.

With regard to training we realise we are not all super heroes and that each and every one of us has limitations, together we can search for those limitations and look for ways to surpass even your own expectations. When the going gets tough it can be too easy to say “I can’t do this” It takes hard work and dedication to condition your body for the best results from any martial system, but you will be amazed as to what level you can push your mind and body if you develop the correct mental attitude. Ultimately this could be the difference between life and death in a real confrontation.

If you stay the course, you will encounter the many trials and tribulations involved in  training in our system and will no doubt suffer a few bumps and bruises along the way. To counter this, the rewards are many, with hard work and dedication you will ultimately experience the mental and physical rewards that U.K.M. Self-Defence has to offer. As you progress through our system the experience lifts you to a new level both mentally and physically each time. Come and enjoy the journey, it is a long, but an extremely rewarding one.
